Well, here we are. The day after Thanksgiving. The official start of the Christmas season..
I have not done the Black Friday shopping in a few years. I don't have the patience to deal with those types of crowds

My Thanksgiving was nice. It was just me and Jeremy. I think my daughter was a little miffed that I didn't make a point of coming to her house for a little bit, but I just needed to stay home and get some stuff done.

I made a turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and sweet potatoes..and of course we had cranberry sauce..
Just as our dinner was about done, I made the comment that Jeremy should give his grandpa a call to say Happy Thanksgiving..I told him what Grandpa's plans for the day were. Jeremy decided that he would just walk down to the shop to say hi...

Jeremys Grandpa has a flag store that is about 4 blocks from our house. That is where Jeremys Dad lives. They had built a three bedroom apartment above the business.
This is the second Thanksgiving that Jeremys Grandma is not here. So, Jeremys aunt was making a dinner and taking it to the shop. Her brothers were supposed to be there with their families also..well, at the last minute they all decided that they had other plans.
Anyway,,,Jeremy put on his headphones and trekked over there. He saw two of his cousins that he hasn't seen for a few years. Spent some time just talking and hanging around..
By now my dinner was done and on the table...I began to wonder if he was just going to eat with
He finally came home and we just reheated our food..
As we sat at the table, I asked him what he was thankful for...
He said that he was thankful to have a mom that was patient with him even though she has a stressful job..(awww)
He is thankful that he lives in a house instead of an apartment.
And he is thankful that he has a job when so many people are losing theirs...
Because Jeremy is not as mature as most young people his age, he can really surprise me with some of his thoughts..This was a time that I was surprised and very proud.

I told him that I too was very thankful for all of our health.
That I too was thankful to be living in a house instead of an apartment. lol
And that I was also thankful to have a job that provides me the opportunity to have and do some of the things that I would not be able to do otherwise.

We had a very nice talk..It was something to be Thankful for.

Throughout the day, I did work on my Christmas tree. I had set most of it up the day before.
It's funny how you automatically recall something about each ornament as you place it on the tree..
I came across two that had Carlos and Sheri written on them...Pulling at my heartstrings, I decided that it was time to put them in the garbage...
It's over and it's been over, but I still found it very hard to throw them away..Then it made me think of the bin downstairs that is full of our wedding stuff..Ugh...I know it's time to get rid of that stuff cards, wedding albums, my beautiful bouquet...
As the saying goes.....JUST DO IT!!

On that note, I think I will get moving here and finish the tree...Have a wonderful week!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Woke up to dreary weather today. I sure miss the sun shining.
I've spent the morning getting a few things done around the house..Dishes being the number one project. Not that there were many. I just don't like having dishes in the sink. lol
I finally have all of my workers settled for the Thanksgiving Holiday...We have some businesses that are open on Friday, some that aren't. Had to make all of the contacts to figure out who will be working Friday.
Tonight I have to train a new employee...YAY...that means all of my buildings are covered. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that no one calls in
I have been have bouts of light headedness..At first I thought it was from too much nicorette gum, (yes, still trying to stop smoking). I stopped using it and the problem still persists.
I stopped at the local Walmart because I was going to see if they had a blood pressure machine. I had a problem with very low blood pressure a while back. Well, the didn't have the machine, but they did have a small clinic. I talked to the nurse and she said that she could take my pressure.
That came out fine. She also took my oxygen level, that was at 98%...
She then told me that I might be dehydrated..or it could be my glasses or sinuses...humm. that sounds like a possibility..I have very slight sinus pressure...
So..I bought a case of water and some sinus medication..
We'll see what happens..If it is only one of those things, then I am happy.. My main concern was that my blood pressure was ok..
I'm going to go resupply a couple of jobs this afternoon and then meet the new girl at 6:00 for training. Then I am coming home to
Dinner tomorrow will be Jeremy and myself..I will work on getting out Christmas decorations as dinner is cooking..Can't wait..
I have so much to be thankful for! I am blessed!

Isn't that the cutest tag..I wasn't thinking about what it said until after I posted it..Then I had to laugh,,because the only man I will probably have in my life is a
On that subject.."men" not "snowmen"..I am at the point that I would like to meet someone. I think I am ready. Doesn't have to be anything serious or lifelong...Just someone to hang out with.
Meeting someone might be somewhat of a problem...I don't really do much. I go to work, I go to the store....and once in a while I go out to lunch..Now I know that if God feels the time is right, he will make sure that this person comes into my life..Just can't figure out how He is going to make that know that if it is meant to be, it will happen...But I do think that I need to put myself out there in some way...but then again,,maybe

Anyway...things have been crazy busy..I kid you not. Every darn time I think it's going to settle down, bam something happens..
We had lost a couple of buildings. Then picked up a few. So it evened out rather well..The building that is in my area is large. It's an insurance company. The woman that we have cleaning it had to have a cyst removed from her ear last week. That kept her out of work for most of the week.
We moved one guy from one building to another so I had training last week. I still have one more building that we are trying to find someone for. I had to cover that job two nights last week plus training..So, it has been hectic. I should be done training the one guy tomorrow..Then if we fill the other building this week, ( we are interviewing someone tomorrow..keep your fingers crossed) I will have to train her at least two nights...

I still didn't get around to making any of my Christmas cookie dough...I am hoping to do at least a couple of batches this week..

Saturday my daughter, granddaughter and I took an hour and a half drive north to get a gift certificate from a restaurant that my niece likes to go too..We had lunch, (Indian). It was very good..Then we hit the outlet mall..I didn't do too good finding Christmas presents. Monique did the best. She got things for her boyfriend, one of her brothers and her baby sister. These are her siblings her Dad had with his second wife. I am so glad that she is trying to keep a relationship with the kids..It's important to all of them..

After we got home, I did some cleaning. And that was it..I watched Christmas got really lazy..
I got up at 2:30am and went to resupply two of my restaurant accounts. Got home at 5:00am. Made sure my fill in made it to her account at 6:30am. and then fell asleep in my woke up at 9:00am..
I moved some of my furniture around to make room for my tree. Then I was out the door again.
My granddaughter and I went to the expo center. They were having an art fair of American Indian items..I found a really nice print for 13.00. It has matting, but no frame. I will have to pick one up.
Then we went to lunch. Panera Bread. Monique hasn't been there, so it was a new experience for her. We had a nice time together. She's a good girl. I'm so proud of her. She works hard at school. She is prepping for college.

My girlfriend bought a small turkey for Thanksgiving. Then her brother invited them to his house for the day...She is giving me the nice..I told her that she should just keep it in the freezer for Christmas, but she said she would rather give it to me. Isn't that nice?

It will probably just be me and Jeremy for Thanksgiving..I love family, I love the Holidays..But I have to say, I'm looking forward to a quiet day..

Now I need to get to my have to e-mail my orders for next weeks supplies..
Then I think I will go to

Sunday, November 15, 2009

It's early Sunday morning. I've been up since 2:30am..I have my alarm set for that time so that I can make sure my workers are checked in. Most of the time I go right back to sleep, but today I decided to make my run to the two restaurants to restock and do my weekly white glove
Both of these gentlemen keep their building in good shape. I don't have too many complaints from the restaurant managers..

I am contemplating going to the YMCA this morning to swim. My daughter and I have been trying to get back in the practice of doing our exercise routine. We went yesterday and walked the treadmill for a while and then worked with the weights..
I had also gone on my own one day last week...It's a
I did have a strange experience getting off the treadmill on both visits. I felt very lightheaded and had to give myself a moment to adjust.
I have never had that happen before. I don't know if I need to make sure and eat breakfast before I go or maybe I need to make sure I drink some water to ensure that I am hydrated.
I'll make sure and keep an eye on this the next few times that I go workout..(I know I didn't push myself too hard).

I got out the little tree that was in my moms room at the nursing home. The last two years, I have bought more ornaments for it. I'm going to try to get it decorated today. First I have to go to the store and by a large can of coffee..I set the tree inside of the can and put a couple of rocks in there to keep it stable. If I dont do that, the tree tips over too easy..
I am going to start putting my Christmas decorations in the breezeway. Then I will start in the house.

I put up three more blinds. Two in the living room, and one on the door that leads to my breezeway. I am really sick of dealing with have one last window to do..Then I can put my screwdriver away...Doing the blinds in the living room were a little bit of a challenge due to the fact that I have my curtain rod up already. I had to work around the brackets for that..
But it's done now and all is well.

It was a beautiful day yesterday. Oh my gosh, when my daughter and I went to the Y, I didn't even need a jacket. Can you imagine t-shirt weather in Nov. IN WISCONSIN? It was just heavenly...Hope today is a repeat.

Don't remember if I mentioned it in my last post,,,but I finally got new tires on my van..I was so happy. I am now ready for the rain or snow to come...(well, not
At least I will know that I can get out on the roads without having to worry about sliding into someone..

I have paperwork to do. Plus I have to e-mail my orders to my boss..Not looking forward to that.
It's not much, but right now some of my paperwork is a little scattered..I need to get in the habit of writing my orders down on ONE piece of paper. lol... I'll learn to get it in order when I get sick of making more work for myself...

Have a great week..

My birthday was on Monday...54..shhhh...don't tell
Most of the time, I don't have a problem with getting a little older..but once in a while, I will look in the mirror and I LOOK OLD..Now, for the most part, I think that we are as young as we feel..But what happens when we FEEL old? When we start to get out of a car and our bones don't want to move as easily as we would like? LOL...I really do try to keep a positive attitude about aging..but once in a while...oh my...

My daughter brought over a cake..she got me the electric can opener that I wanted. She also wanted to take me out to dinner but time was not on our
I had to work for a few hours that evening..
When I got home I got on the phone with my friend Andrea. As we were talking I had another call come in. I checked it and saw that it was my sons father.
I didn't take the call. I told Andrea who it was and then proceeded to rant about what an ass my ex is....
We live about five blocks from where he lives and he has not seen Jeremy for over a year. He has not called Jeremy on his birthday in two or more years. He doesn't do anything for him for Christmas but yet he can call me on my birthday? WHAT is he thinking??
After I got off the phone with Andrea, I listened to the message that he left..All he said was,,"November 9th,,,Happy Birthday"...
I am so angry...Since our divorce in 1995, Mike and I have had times that we have gotten along and times that we will not see eye to eye..but this tops it all. I feel like I have forgiven him more times than he has deserved.
This is the man that has lost one son to suicide and STILL has not learned to make amends with his other children..
I give up.

And then....I get another call...from Carlos..(must have been the night for ex's).
I haven't talked to Carlos for some months..We didn't talk too long. He did ask about where I moved to.. I told him that it's the same house that he and I had lived in...He didn't have too much to say about that. lol...
I'm glad that night is over with...Too many

I have been doing some of my Christmas shopping...Oh how I love Christmas. I won't be able to go overboard, but it will be nice..My granddaughter is already talking about coming over to watch "It's a wonderful life", and Miracle on 34th st."
Can't wait for that..This year her boyfriend might watch the movies with us. He has never seen either movie...How that happened I don't

Work has smoothed out a bit..and believe me, that feels good..I will have another week or two of training and then all of my buildings will be covered. I think some of the people we have hired recently are Very dependable. Maybe I will be able to get thru the Holidays without too many

Guess I'll get to sleep now. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow...

thanks for your address Lucy....
